Does not work to charge anything

Question

Is this cable only for charging with the D+ and D- pins shorted? That might explain why "M.M." couldn't get it to work to connect the extra camera to his dashcam - it might not carry data, but only power. My Viofo needs such a cable to allow it to go into parking mode with a Dongar Pro. Dongar knows that their standard USB C cable doesn't allow for parking mode, but they don't offer any solution.

I bought the cord so that i could place my rear camera next to my front camera, but the cameras did not recognized the cord. Wasted my money.

Bought a 2025 VW ID.Buzz that has a USB-C plug by the rear view mirror, specifically for a dashcam. I don't know the minutiae of technology but a regular USB-C cable would not work, and this cable works. Shipped from China and takes a while.
