Frequently Asked Questions

What does IP67 mean for the RWE800?
IP67 means the camera is fully protected against dust (rated 6 — no dust ingress) and can withstand temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes (rated 7). In practice, this means the RWE800 handles rain, snow, road spray, car washes, and pressure washing without damage.
Is the RWE800 the same camera included in the A229 Ultra-W packages?
Yes. The RWE800 is the same waterproof rear camera that ships with the A229 Ultra-W 2CH and A229 Ultra-W 3CH packages. If you purchased the A229 Ultra 1CH or the standard (non-W) 2CH and want to add a waterproof rear camera, the RWE800 is the correct module.
What is the difference between the RWE800 and the RNE800?
The RWE800 is IP67 waterproof with an F1.5 super aperture, designed for exterior mounting (tailgate, bumper, license plate frame). The RNE800 is a standard (non-waterproof) 4K rear camera designed for interior rear-window mounting. Both record 4K HDR with Sony STARVIS 2 sensors. Choose the RWE800 for trucks, tinted windows, or any vehicle where you need the camera mounted outside.
Can I mount the RWE800 on a truck or large SUV?
Yes. The RWE800 is ideal for trucks and large SUVs where the rear window may be too far from the road or heavily tinted. Mount it on the tailgate, rear bumper, or license plate frame for an unobstructed rear view. The IP67 rating ensures the camera withstands all weather conditions and road debris.
Is the RWE800 compatible with the A229 Pro or A229 Plus?
No. The RWE800 is ONLY compatible with the A229 Ultra front unit. It will not work with the A229 Pro or A229 Plus. Make sure you have an A229 Ultra front unit before purchasing the RWE800.
How does the F1.5 aperture improve night recording?
The F1.5 super aperture is wider than standard dash cam lenses (typically F1.8 or F2.0), allowing more light to reach the sensor. For an exterior-mounted camera with no cabin lighting or windshield protection, this extra light gathering is critical — it produces brighter, clearer footage in low-light and nighttime conditions without relying on infrared LEDs.
