1080P with Sony STARVIS 2 IMX662

The rear camera records in 1080P resolution with Sony STARVIS 2 1/2.8'' 2MP image sensor. The sensor features a wider dynamic range than the STARVIS pixel of the same size, capturing exceptionally clear and sharp videos during daytime and nighttime recording.

HDR Capability

With advanced HDR technology, the rear camera offers a greater range of light levels and perfectly solves over exposure issues at night to precisely capture car license plate numbers from behind.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the RC320 and the RE200?
The RC320 records at 1080P using an AHD connection with a jack plug cable. The RE200 records at 2K (2560x1440) using the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor with HDR and connects via Type-C cable. The RE200 delivers significantly sharper footage with better low-light performance. The RC320 is the budget option for drivers who want basic rear coverage at a lower price.
Which dash cameras is the RC320 compatible with?
The RC320 is compatible with the VIOFO A229 Plus and A229 Pro front units. It connects to the AHD jack plug rear port on the front unit. It is not compatible with the A329S series.
Is 1080P enough for a rear camera?
For most daily driving scenarios, 1080P rear recording captures sufficient detail including license plates at normal following distances. The rear camera primarily documents what happens behind your vehicle — rear-end collisions, tailgating, and parking incidents. If you need the sharpest possible rear footage for night driving or difficult lighting, consider the RE200 2K module instead.
Do I need to update firmware to use the RC320?
No. The A229 Plus and A229 Pro automatically detect the RC320 when connected. Plug in the jack cable, mount the camera, and the system starts recording the rear channel immediately. No firmware update or configuration required.
Is the 6M cable long enough for an SUV or truck?
The 6M (approximately 20 feet) jack plug cable is sufficient for most passenger vehicles including sedans, SUVs, and standard trucks. Route the cable along the headliner behind trim panels from the front windshield to the rear windshield. For most vehicles, you will have cable to spare.
