Is the RNE800 compatible with the A229 Pro or A229 Plus?
No. The RNE800 is ONLY compatible with the A229 Ultra front unit. It will not work with the A229 Pro or A229 Plus. If you own an A229 Pro or Plus, use the rear camera modules designed for those models.
What sensor does the RNE800 use?
The RNE800 uses the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 — the same 1/1.8-inch, 8-megapixel sensor found in the A229 Ultra front camera. It records true 4K (3840×2160) with HDR for balanced exposure in all lighting conditions.
Can I use the RNE800 to upgrade my A229 Ultra 1CH to dual 4K?
Yes. If you purchased the A229 Ultra 1CH (front camera only), adding the RNE800 upgrades your system to dual 4K — 4K front plus 4K rear. The front unit detects the rear camera automatically once connected. No firmware changes are needed.
What is the difference between the RNE800 and the RWE800?
The RNE800 is a standard (non-waterproof) 4K rear camera designed for interior rear-window mounting. The RWE800 is the IP67 waterproof version designed for exterior mounting on a tailgate, bumper, or license plate frame. Both use Sony STARVIS 2 sensors and record 4K HDR. Choose the RNE800 for standard rear-window placement; choose the RWE800 if you need an exterior-mounted, weather-resistant camera.
Is a cable included with the RNE800?
Yes. The RNE800 includes a 6-meter cable and an adhesive mounting sticker. The 6M cable length is suitable for routing from the front unit along the headliner to the rear window in most sedans and SUVs.
Does the RNE800 support HDR?
Yes. The RNE800 records in 4K with HDR enabled, which balances bright and dark areas in the same frame. This is critical for rear-facing cameras that often deal with direct headlights from following vehicles at night and bright sunlight during the day.
