VIOFO Hardwire Kits — Reliable Power for Parking Mode

A hardwire kit connects your dash cam directly to your vehicle's fuse box, providing constant power when the engine is off. This is what enables parking mode — automatic recording triggered by motion or impact while your vehicle is parked. Without a hardwire kit, your dash cam only records while you drive. With one installed, your dash cam becomes a 24/7 security system that protects your vehicle around the clock.

How a Hardwire Kit Works

The kit taps into a switched (ACC) fuse and a constant (BATT) fuse in your vehicle's fuse box. When the engine is running, the dash cam operates normally on ACC power. When the engine shuts off, the kit switches to BATT power and activates parking mode. Built-in low-voltage cutoff protection monitors your car battery and automatically disconnects the dash cam before the battery drops too low to start the engine. Installation typically takes 30–90 minutes with no permanent modification to your vehicle.

Which Hardwire Kit Do I Need?

  • HK6 (Type-C) — For A329S series. Adds Bluetooth battery voltage monitoring, cutoff voltage protection, and supports the A329S's Hybrid Parking Mode. The most advanced hardwire kit in the lineup.
  • HK4 (Type-C) — For A229 Plus, A229 Pro, A229 Ultra, A119 MINI 2, A119M Pro. Standard cutoff-time protection with Type-C connector.
  • HK5 (Type-C) — For VS1 Mini. Compact Type-C hardwire kit sized for the VS1.
  • HK3 (Mini USB) — For A119 V3, A129 series. Legacy mini-USB connector for older models.
  • HK3-C (Type-C) — For A139, A139 PRO. Type-C connector for the A139 platform.

Each kit includes fuse taps for common fuse types. If your vehicle uses a less common fuse format, standalone fuse tap packs are also available in this collection.

Hardwire Kit FAQs

Do I need a hardwire kit for my dash cam?
A hardwire kit is required if you want parking mode — automatic recording while your vehicle is parked and the engine is off. Without a hardwire kit, your dash cam only records while you drive. If you only need driving recording, a hardwire kit is optional. However, most incidents (hit-and-run, vandalism, break-ins) happen while parked, so a hardwire kit significantly increases your dash cam's protective value.
Will a hardwire kit drain my car battery?
No, when installed correctly. Every VIOFO hardwire kit includes low-voltage cutoff protection that automatically disconnects the dash cam when your car battery drops to a preset voltage threshold. The HK6 for A329S adds real-time Bluetooth voltage monitoring and customizable cutoff voltage, giving you even more precise control. Your car battery will always retain enough charge to start the engine.
How do I know which hardwire kit fits my dash cam?
Match the connector type and model compatibility: HK6 (Type-C) is for A329S series only, with advanced features like Bluetooth monitoring. HK4 (Type-C) is for A229 Plus, A229 Pro, A229 Ultra, A119 MINI 2, and A119M Pro. HK5 (Type-C) is for VS1 Mini. HK3 (Mini USB) is for older A119 V3 and A129 models. HK3-C (Type-C) is for A139 and A139 PRO. Check your dash cam model before ordering.
Can I install a hardwire kit myself?
Yes. Installation involves connecting two wires to your vehicle's fuse box — one to an ACC (switched) fuse and one to a BATT (constant) fuse — plus a ground connection. The included fuse taps make this a plug-in process with no wire cutting. Most installations take 30–90 minutes. VIOFO provides installation guides, and many dash cam YouTube channels offer vehicle-specific tutorials.
What is the difference between the HK4 and HK6?
The HK4 provides cutoff-time protection — it disconnects the dash cam after a set number of hours. The HK6, designed for the A329S, adds cutoff-voltage protection (disconnects at a specific battery voltage), Bluetooth real-time battery monitoring via the VIOFO app, and support for the A329S's advanced Hybrid Parking Mode. The HK6 is the more intelligent and protective option.
What fuse type does my car use?
Most modern vehicles use Mini, Micro2, or Micro3 fuses. VIOFO hardwire kits include fuse taps for the most common types. If you are unsure, check your vehicle's owner's manual or open the fuse box — the fuse size is usually printed on the fuse box cover. Standalone fuse tap packs with Mini, Micro2, Micro3, ATO, and Low-Profile Mini adapters are available if your kit does not include the right type.
