This 1.64 ft (50 CM) Mini short cable is for data transferring/charging.
A standard camera box already comes with this data cable.
You shall enter MicroSdCardReadMode if you use the short cable to connect to the PC, and you can reach files on the card, while the buttons on the cam will be not responsive in this mode,
You can either change the cable or power source to start recording.
