If it's still under warranty take it back for replacement

don't know what 1A is but we've got wall outlets carry voltage of 120 VAC. I'm in the US
in that case you need to make sure the wall plug power adapter and the usb cable support at least 1 amp current, some might only do 0.5 amp especially if its from an older device repurposed.

This isn't a power issue IMO. The item is defective and has been returned. I'm exit left until the replacement comes in 2 days.

Replacement arrived yesterday and it works as it should --card formatted, firmware updated.

Question: how does one switch between the 4 modes? When turned on it automatically is in the recording mode.

sorry I wasn't clearer. I was referring to the standby, recording, playlist, and setting menu modes. Can you toggle between them?

Once you stop the recording, by pressing the REC button, press the ! button to access the playlist. You access the menu/settings by pressing the left button (after recording has stopped).

Thanks for all the responses. Cams installed, wires hidden, and fuse tapping complete and it works. One thing I don't like is my poor job of aligning the cams to the windshield. They're a little off. Presume I can pop them off and use one of the spares sticky pads that came in the box?

Yes, just be sure to re-clean the glass with rubbing alcohol before applying a new 3M pad.

If the base doesn't come off easily, heat it up with a hair-dryer or heat gun for a few minutes...then it will pop right off for sure. Heat the exterior of the window right where the base is taped... You may use a piece of strong string to help pop it off the windshield...
