I cannot get the VIOFO app to connect to the A129 network over Wi-Fi. I have updated to the latest firmware. I have uninstalled the VIOFO app and reinstalled. Whether I use 5g or older version of wi-fi, phone finds the Viofo network but says there is “no internet”. I’ve tried this with my Pixel 4a and my wife’s Pixel 4xl with the same result--no connection, “no internet”. I am at a loss. What am I missing!? Please help!

You're not missing anything. When you connect to the Viofo camera, there is no internet. The connection is only for interactions with the camera...such as viewing images, live view of front/rear cameras and transferring videos from the Viofo to your WiFi connected phone. Depending on your needs, you may need to select whether to connect with 2.4 or 5GHz bands on the Viofo before connecting to it through WiFi.

Open the Viofo app first and activate the VPN. That should allow internet connection from SIM while the WiFi will be available to be switched to the Viofo network. Possible a popup to appear with option "connect anyway".
Hope this helps. :)
