Hello,

I have a serious problem. My 129pro automatically deletes locked files. At first I thought it was because the card was to full.
I have a 256GB card and it had 16GB free,so I formatted the card in the unit and tested again.
I manually locked 2 files by pressing the button while driving and checked in the app that the files were indeed locked. (They showed up in the locked files section) I shut down my car and it enters parking mode. In the morning I check and locked files are gone. Not in the video folder and not in the locked files tab. I still have 208GB free. Firmware 2.1
Also when the unit goes into parking mode, no files are saved in the parking mode tab. They are all in the video tab. (Motion detection) I think that when it locks a file due to g impact it will also be deleted

does anyone know about this problem because now the cam is pretty useless. kind regards

First I've heard of it.

What firmware version are you running?

How is it hooked up?

Or both the front and rear files deleted or just one of them?

Did you update the firmware or did it come with V2.1?

If you updated it, did you manually default the cameras settings in the menu? You should also press and hold the hard reset button on the side of the camera for about 5 seconds after defaulting the settings.

It came with firmware 2.1 I think there might be a bug with the parking mode on auto and that these files overwrite all my locked files. I am now testing with low bitrate parking mode

So an update on the problem.
I found out what is wrong. The big problem is the firmware/software on the device.

when you use the automatic detection function of parking mode all events are stored as read only but they are not placed in the RO folder on the card. Because the motion detection is super sensitive it almost always records events and they fill the allowed room for RO files fast so it starts looping them thus also removing the files that are actually in the RO folder.
Another problem with this function is that during motion detection the g sensor detection is off so when a car starts moving towards your car it starts recording but if it then hits your car the g detection does not kick in.
A following test I did was in a completely dark room so motion could not kick in. when I activate the g sensor the warning symbol appears so you would think that it now definitely registered as a RO file that puts it in the RO folder but it does not.

so it appears there is a big problem in how these auto detection parking files are treated. When using low bitrate parking mode (these files are not read only) the g detection works as expected and it puts the files in the RO folder but motion detection does not so they get looped over.

I think it is very important for users to know this because I bought it exclusively for this function. Only use auto if your car is in a dark place or for short recordings and extract your important locked files asap.

for me the solution would be that the auto parking mode files get there own folder with data limit and only loops these files. Just split the RO folder in driving and parking as this would already eliminate a lot of problems. Give users an option to disable motion detection for auto mode and also make the low setting really low because now it is way to sensitive. It even reacts to a flashing light in the distance.

sorry for the long post but I want everyone to know how this system treats it’s files.

I can confirm that this is indeed still an issue and it makes parking mode useless. I bought it specifically for this so for me this product is useless

What version is that firmware?

If its 2.3 build 20210622 it doesn’t fully solve the issue, the manual locked files stay for longer but are eventually overwritten by motion detected parking file events

While this is better than nothing it’d be nice of the motion detection events didn’t overwrite manually locked events

Yeah, it's 2.3 build 20210622. Thanks for your feedback. We'll try to design a new firmware to fix that problem.

Is it still persistent this problem in 2.4 firmware?

Would be possible to have a "very low" and "off" motion detection so just record -15s+30seconds when the G sensor is activated? so we don't overwrite all the protected files with just cars passing in front?

Regards.

Still the same in 2.4

I don’t know if Viofo just don’t fully understand the problem, or don’t actually use the cameras they sell in their own cars..

But if you’re going to lock parking motion events, then at least reserve their own space so they can’t overwrite manually locked driving files and vice versa

I just switched to low bitrate recording because I got no where with their support
